Kenya: Nurses from Kenya for Germany

2024 – ongoing

AGHA has developed a distinctive program that provides healthcare professionals from Kenya with access to exclusive job opportunities in Germany. Surpluses generated from this initiative are reinvested in social projects across Africa, fostering sustainable support and promoting the exchange of knowledge between Germany and Kenya.

Senegal: Maternity Project

2023 – 2025

The African German Health Association, which has previously partnered with the Senegalese Ambassador to Germany on health initiatives in Senegal, is spearheading the construction of a maternity clinic in Donaye Taredji, a village in the Podor department of the Saint Louis region.

The State of Bavaria has committed to supporting the training of local health staff, who will also serve at the new maternity clinic, providing much-needed healthcare for women in the village and surrounding areas. This project is also supported by GIZ.

Ghana: Equipment Donation

2024 – 2025

The Klinik Flechsig from Kiel has donated multiple pieces of medical equipment, including various hospital beds and bedside cabinets.

With the support of our member company, Hospital Engineering, the donation is being shipped to Ghana. The company also assists in the installation of the equipment and provides necessary training at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital. The project is supported by the Block Foundation, which contributed to covering the logistic costs.

Ghana: Trainings at the Biomanufacturing Training Centre

2024

The Biomanufacturing Training Centre in Accra, Ghana, is equipping students with the skills needed to excel in various fields within the pharmaceutical sector, including essential pharmaceutical production.

AGHA and its members are proud to support the training program at the Biomanufacturing Training Centre by offering courses on “Hazardous Substances,” “Health and Safety,” and “Cold Chain (Logistics) Management.”

Germany: Exciting Student Research Collaboration!

2024

Four motivated students from the International School of Management in Hamburg have taken on a significant research project commissioned by AGHA and AHK Ghana. Their task was to explore how kindergarten staff in Germany can be supported by skilled professionals from Ghana.

Senegal: Strengthening the health sector

2021 – 2023

AGHA worked together with the Special Initiative „Decent work for a just transition“ on a broad-based project in the Republic of Senegal. The aim was to jointly contribute to the promotion of the physical and digital infrastructure of the health sector of the West African state.

On the digital side, the focus was on an IHE- based eHealth infrastructure and creating jobs with the Santé Cloud & Data Accelerator Senegal programme. On the physical side, training and workshops on hospital planning and design as well as management and maintenance of hospital equipment were implemented. The qualification of hospital management staff and training for the Institut Pasteur rounded off this large-scale project.

Ghana: Strengthening the health sector

2022 – 2023

The programme aimed to strengthen the digital and physical infrastructure of Ghana’s health sector. Project implementation was carried out in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

As part of the project activities, training in hospital administration, medical equipment maintenance and management were implemented. In addition, workshops on planning and design of health facilities were organised. All trainings were characterised by a combination of face-to-face and online content.

Ghana: Covid-19 vaccination campaign and trainings

2022

Germany supports Ghana’s efforts to become a pan-African centre for vaccine production. Within the framework of this project, the African German Health Association e.V. was making its contribution as an implementing partner of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

The project consisted of a national campaign to promote willingness to vaccinate among hospital staff and training measures to improve vaccine availability. The spectrum ranged from digital tracking and supply chain management for vaccines to waste management and infection prevention.

As part of the project activities, training was implemented in the areas of hospital administration and health facility planning and design. In addition, workshops on the topic of digital health communication standards rounded off the programme.
