The whole story of this project started already during a long-term oriented program, that the African German Health Association e. V. implemented on behalf of the Special Initiative „Decent Work for a Just Transition“ (Invest for Jobs) between 2021 and 2023 with the mission to strengthening the digital and physical infrastructure in Senegal. Under the Invest for Jobs brand, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has put together a package of measures to support German, European and African companies in investment activities that have a high impact on employment in Africa. The Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition” offers comprehensive advice, contacts and financial support to overcome investment barriers. Furthermore, the African German Health Association has already collaborated with the Senegalese Ambassador to Germany on health projects in Senegal. Based on activities with GIZ and the Senegalese Ambassador to Germany, the construction of a maternity clinic in Donaye Taredji, a village in the Podor Department of the Saint-Louis Region, was initiated. The Bayerische Staatskanzlei (Free State of Bavaria) is supporting the project by providing training for local healthcare personnel, who will also work at the new maternity clinic, offering much-needed healthcare services for women in the village and surrounding areas. This project is also supported by GIZ.
